Tokyo Tech High School of Science and Technology is located next to Tamachi Station (JR Yamanote Line). It is the only national high school of science and technology in Japan, which has a long history of over a century and offers an educational base in science and technology. It has five fields of specialization: applied chemistry, information systems, mechanical systems engineering, electrical and electronics, and architectural design.
Our student body averages 600 students per year, about 15% of which are female. Our educational objective is to improve our students' basic ability of science and technology and help them acquire a foundation from which they can advance to a higher education level.
Our students learn to obtain common sense suitable for an advancing society through our original curriculum which is designed to increase their interests in science and technology, not only concerning theory but by conducting experiments and a multitude of practice. We foster talented students who are thoughtful and decisive, and who are willing to contribute to the development of science and technology and social welfare.
The best feature of our curriculum is to make our students acquire bases of science and technology both theoretically and practically, and make them capable of pursuing education of science and technology at college and still higher institutes in order to achieve the educational objective mentioned above.
Moreover, our school was designated as a Super Science High School, with the mission to develop and design special educational programs for high standards of science and technology by the Ministry of Education and Science in 2002 and re-designated this year, 2010. This program also aims to advance all-round education for science-based and technology-oriented students and seeks to integrate university education into their early development. We have been researching and tackling the development of a new method of science and technology education for eight years and are going to continue to do so.
